Green New Trade, New Opportunities for China: GEI study reveals key path for China to lead global agricultural supply chain green transformation

Global Environment Institute (GEI) has conducted a series of corporate surveys and multi-party seminars over the past year to explore the policies and financial needs of sustainable trade, and to build consensus on financial support models for promoting green agricultural product trade. According to research, as the world’s largest trading nation, China is currently at a historical opportunity window to lead the green transformation of the global agricultural supply chain. With the increasingly mature green finance system and market influence, China has both the ability and the necessity to initiate this profound industrial transformation.

Under the promotion of international regulations such as the EU Deforestation Regulation, building a “verifiable, zero deforestation” green supply chain has shifted from an optional option to a strategic priority for enterprise survival and development. For Chinese enterprises, this is about obtaining better green financing and enhancing international brand competitiveness; For financial institutions, this is an important path to optimize asset structure and manage long-term risks; For the country, it is a key measure to strengthen its global trade leadership position and implement the “dual carbon” goals.

To achieve this vision, it is urgent to promote collaboration among all links of the industrial chain: clear standards and incentive mechanisms should be established on the policy side, the financial system needs to accelerate product and service innovation, and enterprises must comprehensively enhance the transparency and traceability of the supply chain. To this end, GEI has released visual long charts and videos aimed at providing action blueprints for relevant parties, helping to transform China’s trade influence into a strong driving force for promoting global sustainable development.
