Teresa KENNEDY joined GEI in September 2019 as the External Relations Coordinator for Program Development and External Relations. Her main responsibilities include heading all English communications, managing relationships with other organizations and institutions, and supporting GEI’s project proposals and grant writing. She is also involved in designing potential approaches and building partnership networks for our agriculture-based deforestation project in Latin America.
Teresa earned a masters in China Studies through Peking University’s Yenching Academy and a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and peace studies at the University of Notre Dame. During her master’s studies, Teresa focused on social and environmental issues related to Chinese overseas investment, with a particular focus on Latin America.
Previously, Teresa has interned with the Inter-American Association for Environmental Defense in Colombia and worked as a high school human geography and ESL teacher in the US. She speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese. Outside of the office, Teresa enjoys hiking, biking around Beijing, cooking with friends, and traveling.
