Conservation, Development Methodology, Ecological Protection
Guardian of the grasslands, Ms. Linghong KONG is the Ecological Conservation & Community Development program officer at GEI. Linghong leads and guides the Ecological Conservation & Community Development program’s grassroots projects and builds multi-stakeholder engagement in Qinghai Province, Ningxia Province, and Inner Mongolia.
With 10 years of experience in environmental conservation and community development, she designs and implements programs to protect the grassland regions of northern China and foster rural economic development. An advocate for an ecosystems services-economy, she assisted in implementing the Ecological Management and Protection Agreement, designed to support rural development and environmental protection through livestock cooperatives and eco-tourism activities. In addition, she helped design the Community-Conservation Concession Agreement model to balance grassland protection and build up local agricultural communities. Other notable work includes the sandstorm mitigation project in Inner Mongolia and international study on national park system management.
Also a prolific researcher, Linghong has authored several reports, including ‘A Preliminary Study on China’s Foreign Direct Investment’, ‘On Green Credit’ and ‘NGO Participation in the Promotion of Environment-Friendly Finance.’
Linghong received a B.S. in forestry from Inner Mongolia Agriculture University and M.S. in forestry management from Beijing Forestry University. From 2016-2017, Linghong conducted a research at University of Wisconsin-Madison focusing on the development and management of America’s National Parks System and economic development in conservation areas. She speaks Mandarin and English and is a very talented dancer.
